Ericka Fink, MD, MS, is Associate Professor of Critical Care Medicine, Pediatrics, and Clinical and Translational Science and Associate Director of the Safar Center for Resuscitation Science at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests focus on neurocritical care and resuscitation of the pediatric patient, translating neuroprotective strategies to the bedside, temperature management for neuroprotection after pediatric cardiac arrest, biomarker research after cardiac arrest, and early rehabilitation to improve outcomes after neurological injury.


 

Anthony Fabio, MPH, PhD

Anthony Fabio, MPH, PhD is a faculty member in the Epidemiolgy Data Center in the Department of Epidemiolgy and Director of the Consortium for Injury Research andCommunity Action (CIRCA). He is an epidemiologist on the forefront of social epidemiologic approaches to understanding violence and injury. Dr. Fabio works in other areas, where he provides epidemiologic and statistical expertise including novel statistical modeling techniques. He will lead the Data Management and Analysis Core of POCCA.


 

David Maloney, BS - David.Maloney@chp.edu

David isthe lead study coordinator for Personalizing Outcomes after Child Cardiac Arrest (POCCA). He has over 10 years of experience in clinical and lab based research in a variety of areas including: Autism, Alzheimer’s and Concussion. David will be responsible for management of study protocol and procedures as well as the site coordinator at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.


 

Pamela Rubin, RN

Pamela Rubin, RN, is the research assistant for POCCA at the Pittsburgh site. She is the study coordinator for the PCORI Early Rehabilitation Protocol Study, and has worked on studies developing a clinical decision rule to identify brain injury in infants and young children, evaluation of a mandatory child abuse screen, and medication effects on cognitive function in pediatric epilepsy patients.


 

Sue R. Beers, PhD

Sue R. Beers, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic where she directs the Traumatic Brain Injury Program.  Dr. Beers also serves as the neuropsychologist for the Brain Trauma Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh, participating in pediatric studies of traumatic, disease related, and environmentally triggered brain injury.  Dr. Beers’ research has concerned the neurobehavioral changes in children and adults with medical, psychiatric, and developmental learning disorders.  Her work has dealt specifically with information processing and cognitive deficits (e.g., memory, executive function) associated with disease processes of varying levels of severity.  She has authored numerous scholarly texts and chapters in the area of clinical neuropsychology.
